I'm not saying that this is what had to have happened.This is just what I came up for why my own character exists as a Dovahkiin.As you can see my Oblivion character was female so it could easily have happened. As long as the player fills in their own scenario of what could have happened between the two while the female character was in the company of Martin.
Obviously nothing like that would occur in cannon game, but imagination goes a long way.The Elder Scrolls lore and history are very open so I just took advantage of that in my own character's background story.The Graybeards did say that other dragonborns have existed outside of the Septim bloodline, so there is that. Mirak is an example of another dragonborn not in that family (at least to our knowledge).So there is many ways to explain why your character is Dovahkiin. It's all up to the players imagination when they think up their characters back story. I hear someone actually modded the College of Winterhold into Hogwarts. Now.how would we get there? All aboard a random Dragon? (Hagrid would be happy)My character's a Nord named Skuld (I was that much of a dork to pick a name form Viking Mythology) who I plan to make a Battlemage for even dorkier reasons.
I can't decide between warrior and mage classes. And I chose to be a Nord for the dokriest of reasons, I have some Viking ancestry so when I saw the Nords I went 'Hey it's my relatives!' And I swear Ralof looks like one of my great uncles. I'm still deciding on what factions to join besides the College of Winterhold, I already know in the civil war quest line I plan on getting that Peace Treaty signed. Taking sides will be for another character and another story. Maybe Thieves guild so I can get lots of treasure!Skuld: Chocobo!

Martin Septim has returned from his apothesis into an avatar of Akatosh in order to help a new Dragonborn. Not overpowered compared to my Divayth Fyr, except for a Elder Councill Amulet which I put in as an Amulet of Kings analogue, which sells for a lot. He is in the Bannered Mare in Whiterun.

UP.) until I found out there was a peace treaty option.Stormcloaks and Empire will be another tale for another time.
